Project - Apeiron Flow

STATUS - COMPLETED

CONCEPT

growthprocess-image.jpg

1. Start with a flat surface

2. Expand the edges of the surface

3. Relative increased expansion at edges causes ruffling

4. Bridge the edge with a new surface

5. Grow all edges

DESIGN CONCEPT - FREEDOM TO PLAY

Adam Holloway Architects presents Apeiron Flow showcasing the endless expressive potential of paper. Using principles inspired by Nature to increase its structural stiffness, paper is crafted into an algorithmically grown, expansive and fluid sculptural form.  AHA developed a set of algorithmic rules to iteratively grow a surface and infold it. The anti-clastic stiffness created by this ruffling process allows the form to support its own weight while filling a volume of over 100 cubic meters.
